On Monday, March 4th I reached another legislative milestone in having my first bill hearing, laying out H.B. 933 and H.B. 1238 before the House Elections Committee! After filing a bill and having it referred to a committee this is the next step in the legislative process. After hearing the bill, taking testimony from the public, and making any changes, the chair can call vote. If favorable, the bill moves on to either the Local & Consent Calendar or Calendars committee.
H.B. 933: Election Info Online
This bill empowers every Texas voter by requiring contact information for county elections offices, polling locations, Voter ID info, and a variety of required election notices to be posted on the Secretary of State or the Counties Elections websites as appropriate.
H.B. 1231: Elected Official & Candidate Database
This bill would require the Secretary of State to create and maintain a database of candidate and elected officials in Texas, giving voter access to critical information about who they can vote for and who are their elected officials.
